What is couple therapy?

It seems that the divorce rate is around 50 percent for first marriages all around the civilized world. The divorce rate for second marriages is even higher. And even among people who stay married, the number who describe themselves as happy, according to researchers, is only about 50 percent. However, couple therapy is a powerful tool to help you have a happy relationship, either you are married or not. In couples therapy, the therapist will help you and your partner identify the conflict issues within your relationship, and will help you decide what changes are needed for both of you to feel satisfied with the relationship. Couples therapy involves learning how to communicate more effectively, and how to listen more closely in order to (re) create the intimacy of a safe haven that a couple should be.
